WTA SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The World Trade Association of Philadelphia’s (“WTA”) is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to qualified college-bound graduating high school students and full-time college students focused on Logistics & Supply Chain.  Our mission is to foster a professional appreciation and understanding of world trade in our youth. The purpose of the WTA scholarship program is to support the involvement of the future leaders in the supply chain and logistics industry. The WTA will award at least one (1) scholarship of a minimum of $1,000 towards college tuition for the chosen candidate(s).  Applicants will be judged based on the quality of their essay submission, their academic performance, and their involvement in community activities. Award(s) will be presented at the Annual Banquet in September.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicant is a child, grandchild, or resident stepchild of an active WTA member or student member of the WTA.

  2. Applicant is a college-bound high school senior or a full-time student enrolled in a bachelor or master’s degree program in traffic, transportation, supply chain management, or logistics.

  3. Applicant must submit their application by: 2020 deadline TBD. Send to wtaphiladelphia@gmail.com with all supporting documentation.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION REQUIRMENTS

  1. A transcript or a copy of the applicant’s most recent report card.
  2. One-page resume.
  3. A letter outlining the following:
    1. Why you chose the transportation and supply chain management field;
    2. Describe extracurricular activities, work or special projects relating to the field;
    3. Explain how you think the industry will change in the next decade and how you are positioning yourself to be successful.
  4. Are you a WTA student member?  If so, please elaborate on the following:
    1. If you volunteered at WTA events, list the events and details of your involvement;
    2. If you participated in the student-business pairing interview program, please tell us about this experience.  Did you submit a summary of the interview for social media?

DETERMINATION and ANNOUNCMENT of AWARD(S)
Winning candidates will be notified and the formal announcements will be made at the Annual Banquet in October.
